Such a great article! Thank you.

I just got an email from a doctor/author who is working on human longevity and wanted me to buy his new book on this "newest disruption." I wrote back and told him that there are already SO many humans using so many resources and putting so much pressure on the rest of nature that I thought there were many more important things to focus on --farming that respects and supports nature, human suffering, etc. He wrote back and said that we don't need to worry about depleting resources for this new population of 120-year olds; in the future, all food would come from biogenerators that would have a footprint only a little bigger than a small city. I told him that this kind of separation from the foods and landscapes in which we evolved was not a future I'd want to live longer for. Clearly an argument of values!

Our health depends on how healthy the soil is that grows the plants we need. Modern farming methods use fertilizer made from the oil and gas industry and is mostly nitrogen. Plants need 17 elements to grow healthy food. The poor quality food that is grown is part of the reason why so many people are getting sick. We need nutrient density food to be healthy. If we eat good quality food we don't need a much to feel satisfied. This may help people with their weight problem. I grow organic fruit and vegetables and use the no dig method. I am 76 years old. Getting out in the fresh air and working with nature is such a great feeling. Sharing the produce with family, friends and neighbours is heartwarming. We must care for the Earth and it will take care of us.
